TAP+ is a multimedia protocol that brings audio, images, and video to BBS terminals. Built on OSC escape sequences, it allows BBS SysOps to add background music, sound effects, image displays, and real-time audio visualizations to their boards all without requiring any special permissions on the user's device.

With 4 independent audio channels, SysOps can layer background music on channel 0 with sound effects on channels 1–3. TAP+ supports streaming formats like MP3, WAV, and OGG, plus classic tracker modules including MOD, S3M, XM, and IT.

Beyond audio, TAP+ supports inline images (PNG, JPG, animated GIF) across 8 independent channels, video overlays (MP4), persistent logo branding, background underlays, a tile atlas system for sprite-based game graphics, and four styles of real-time audio reactive visualizers: equalizer bars, oscilloscope, animated fire, and starfield.

The protocol is fully one way and backward compatible, terminals that don't support TAP+ simply ignore the sequences, so SysOps can enhance their boards without breaking anything for other users.
